ILLINOIS STATE RALLY, 2016
In my eyes the 2016 Illinois State Rally was great with no complaints on the weather, good entertainment, food, and being surrounded by many old Good Sam friends and making many new ones. If you didn't have a chance to attend I hope these pages will show the great time we all had, and hope that next year it will be in your plans.
Most PSS members arrived at Henry, Putman County Fair Grounds on Sunday Aug 28th to start set up work the following Monday. I was very impressed with all the hard working members that chipped in and 90% of the setup was complete by noon on Monday. Final touches and tweaking of hospitality, decorations, and gathering for the fun of being with fellow Good Sam members took place over the next few days. Campers started filtering in at a slow pace on Tuesday and by Thursday it was not uncommon to see 8 campers lined up waiting to be parked, the parking crew did a great job, give Budd M a thanks when you see him.

IN MEMORY of PAUL WILSON
Paul was a fun loving school teacher who enjoyed many forms of travel and
entertainment. He was always ready with a joke or stories of his travels to
Europe. If one was wise they did not ask to see his photo's of Europe. He took
thousands. He was well known for his home made caramels and endless supply
of newspapers. He will be missed by all of the Prairie State Sam members.

OUR STATE DIRECTOR, CAROLYN, SHAFFER
It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with Carolyn at the 2016 Illinois State Rally. Congrats Carolyn, for a job well done and having the patients to answer all the little questions I had when I knew you had more important things to do.
AND NOW FOR THE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS, HONORING ALL THOES WHO DESERVE AND RECEIVED AWARDS FOR THE WORK THEY HAVE DONE OVER THE PAST YEAR.
YEP PSS WAS HONORED TO RECEIVE THE "CHAPTER OF THE YEAR" AWARD
2016 CHAPTER OF THE YEAR
The past year we had the opportunity to donate over $8000 to charity from $8900 profits of our fundraiser, the 10th Annual Campout for Charity. Some of the receipents of the profits this year were Dogs for the Deaf, Relay for Life in both Kankakee County and Iroquois County, gifts for seniors at Christmas time in both Kankakee and Iroquois Counties. Also Veterans home activity fund, Salvation Army, lap robes for lady veterans at the nursing home. We also put together care bags for a homeless shelter. The total our chapter has donated to charity since 1999 is $60,000. All due to hard work by our members.
Members of our chapter also volunteer many hours delivering meals on wheels, building wheel chair ramps, driving for Road to Recovery (taking patients to doctor appointments) and various church related programs.
Our time is also spent helping others and having a great time doing so. Members of our chapter also set out, light and clear away luminaries at the Iroquois Relay for Life and at the Kankakee County Relay for Life. In addition to “walking the track” in support of those fighting cancer and in memory of those who lost their battle with this terrible disease. We have several members who are survivors of cancer and sadly, over the years some who did not survive.
We were proud to be awarded a flag from Dogs for the Deaf this past spring, which will be presented at the Rally. This is given to chapters who are in the top ten donating to dogs for the deaf.
Family being the center of all our lives, we have enjoyed a “kids weekend” for three years in a row. It is planned to be technology free and for everyone to participate in old fashioned games, such as tug of war, ladderball, balloon toss, bozo buckets, ring toss and beanbag baseball. We had pizza, hot dogs, s’mores and ice cream.
We have had several members serve in offices at the state level and currently we have three members who are state officers. Our members are supportive of our Good Sam organization and have hosted state business meetings and helped at nearly every Rally for the past 40 years. We have helped with games played at the Rally, making breakfast, popping popcorn, and dishing our ice cream. Also, driving the golf cart shuttle and working in the hospitality and on the parking crew.
In January 2016, we were chapter of the year for the Ohio Valley Region. We have been selected to represent our region at a national level and will be voted on later.
We are very proud of our chapter for all the hard work and dedication each member contributes to making it a very successful and fun organization.

MAN AND WOMAN OF THE YEAR, 2016
TERRY AND VICKI REGNIER
TERRY AND VICKI REGNIER
The couple we are nominating is very active in our chapter. Both have held an office, she is the treasurer and he is second vice president and firemaker. They always arrive at the campouts with a truck full of firewood.
At our Campout for Charity this year he was on the parking and breakfast committees. He also shuttled campers to and from their rigs with a golf cart. He helped move tables and chairs, shopped for groceries and anything that needed to be done. They both get up early to cook sausage, eggs and biscuits at our campout for Charity. She also works on the registration and lines up vendors and entertainment.
At the Good Sam RV Rally he also shuttles people and you will see him frying sausage and making pancakes, serving ice cream, and popcorn.
He is a retired science teacher and drove a school bus for many years. He likes to keep busy as he fills his time with meals on wheels, road to recovery, relay for life, building wheel chair ramps for seniors and the disabled.
She is currently our treasurer and has streamlined the whole process and consequently sends out very detailed and accurate financial reports. She is a very responsible and capable person who gained bookkeeping experience by running her own painting and wall papering business for many years.
She is so clever at finding crafts and taking them to our camping club demonstrating and teaching the craft to others. She has made beads out of paper, painted them different colors and made jewelry at our campout for charity as well as the Good Sam Rally. Every year she finds a new craft to do at our Campout for Charity.
Together they have taken students into their home for the Sugar Creek Opera Organization in the Watseka area. They provide food, beds, and whatever they may need while in town, for 1 or 2 weeks. They have big hearts for students.
They volunteer for Iroquois County Relay for Life, and for several years have been in charge of the luminaries (setting out, lighting and cleaning up at the end).
Prairie State Sams Chapter is happy to nominate Terry and Vickie Regnier for the 2016 Illinois State Good Sams Man and Woman of the year. They are good examples of what Good Sam stands for.
