May 2016, Illini State Park
When you camp during the Spring in Illinois you can expect one of 4 seasons to be the weather. This May 2016 campout at Illini State Park provided a little bit of everything from rain, cold weather, wind and frost forecast for the area. The hardy nature of PSS did not stop us from having a rather long meeting covering the updates from the state meeting and all that needed to be talked about for the upcoming Campout for Charity. Even in the cold PSS cannot pass up cake and ice cream and we had the pleasure of sharing with Dennis and Sue on their 50th anniversary, congrats you two.... And let us not forget the birthday of Gerald with more cake and ice cream. With all the great cooks in our chapter no wonder we have a FEW overweight. Friday night supper was at Sunfield Restaurant in Ottawa that was recommended by Jean and Dicks son, good food and a good price, thanks for the heads up. We did cancel the potluck scheduled for Saturday night because of the weather, but enjoyed good food at the Illini Lounge with some rather large sandwiches. Our fire guy decided we would have a fire both Saturday night and Sunday morning to burn up the wood supplied by PSS members, thanks to all who helped on the wood supply. The fire really warmed us up and sitting around in hoodies and blankets turned out to be the dress for the day. We did decide to have a potluck Sunday lunch before we all left, and as usual, good food all the way around. Enjoy the pics and I am sure all are preparing for CFC in a few days.
